This week in year 6!

Image
This week in year 6! This week, we have been consolidating our prior learning from our previous unit Macbeth. We also researched the Polar regions as part of our new unit Frozen Kingdom and made a character description based on our new book “The Call of the Wild.”  Using this week's work we have made some fantastic wall displays. Here are the children proudly showing off their work.

Seasonality In D.T we have been learning about seasonality but what does this mean. Seasonality is the time of year when the harvest or flavour of a type of food is at its best. It is often when the item is at its lowest cost and freshest on the market. In this week's lesson children had the opportunity to taste and evaluate some cooked and raw seasonal fruit and vegetables.

Investigating Circuits in Year 6

Image
This week, Year 6 have been investigating electrical circuits and their components. We used a range of electrical equipment to make our own circuits and see what fun things we could create. We also came up with our own questions such as, what would happen to a bulb if we added two batteries to the circuit? Ask us what happened when we added three batteries to the circuit with the fan! Take a look at the fun we had.

Exploring Fossils in Year 3!

Image
This week we have explored how fossils are made over millions of years, and looked at real fossils. The children even made their own fossils by mimicking the process…lots of messy fun was had! Can you spot the brachiosaurus or the spinosaurus fossil?

King of the Cloud Forests

Year 4 have started reading ‘King of the Cloud Forests’ by Michael Morpurgo this week as their focus text for the English writing unit this term. It tells the story of Ashley and Uncle Sung as they embark on their journey through the Himalayan Mountains, set against the backdrop of China being invaded by the Japanese army. The children have really enjoyed discovering the characters and plot thus far and we look forward to uncovering more of the story in the coming weeks.
