KS2 SATs Tests

Key Stage 2 Results We are delighted to announce that once again Year 6 pupils have performed very well in their SATs. In terms of the school’s performance, our results put us above both Havering and National averages in all areas. This year also saw a rise in the number of pupils achieving Greater Depth. The percentage of children achieving the higher standard was also above Havering and National averages in all areas – a remarkable achievement! Well done to Year 6 pupils and staff – all that hard work certainly paid off. Please have a look at our website for information about performance in each subject.

Well done to our school council

Image
This year our school council has work hard to make improvements around the school. We now have comics in the playground, and the children are loving having the opportunity to read with their friends. The snack stall has also been a great success, with many children taking advantage of it on a weekly basis. It has also helped to raise a lot of money for the school. These funds have paid for the comics and will also be used to fund other projects, chosen by the school council and children from all year groups. We will be choosing new school council members next year and all the children in the school will have the opportunity to run for election. So keep an eye out next term if you are interested. Well done to everyone. A message from Mrs Lucke. Thank you so much to all the School Councillors this year. You have done an amazing job! Here are some of your achievements:- Snack Stall £460.17 (New games coming for September) Money raised for our chosen charities:- Make a Wish £330.39

Nerf wars in year 6.

Image
As it is the last PE session before the end of the year, year 6 have been having a fun session today.  The children constructed a battle area in the hall and then let battle commence.  It has been a great day for our year 6 children and the build up throughout the day has been electric.  Thank you Mr Leslie for organising this great event.

Our musicians preform to the school

Image
Today, in assembly, we were lucky enough to hear some of our great musicians performed with a variety of instruments, these included piano, recorder, guitar and violin.  Their performances showed their continued hard work and dedication, and their resilience when facing new challenges. We offer the opportunity for children to learn a verity of instruments in school.  If any children are interested in learning a new skill and taking up the challenge of learning an instrument keep an eye out for letters in the autumn term, with details of how to start their journeys to becoming a musician.

Good bye to Mr Leslie

Image
After four years at Squirrels Heath Juniors we are saying good bye to Mr Leslie.  He has been a vital part of our team and we will be sorry to see him go.  We know he will be missed by all the children he has taught over the years.  Ruby, in year 6, said, "He always brightens up our day, as he is always generous and lets us use all the equipment." Mr Leslie has also helped to guide many of our sports teams to victory in a variety of local competitions.  We all wish him good luck in the future.

'Dancing Around The World' competition

Image
On Tuesday 14 children attended the 'Dancing Around The World' competition, hosted by Premier Sport, at the Broadway Theatre in Barking.  The children competed against 6 other schools in a close contest, seeing our team coming in third place over all.  All of the children preformed with great skill and as always were great ambassadors for our school. Ria, in year 6, said, "It was really fun but also intense, as it was a competition and we really wanted to get top three.  So we stayed on top of our game." Well done to all the children for their dedication and hard work over the past term practicing and improving their performance.  Great job!

Our French Day winners

Image
A big thank you to all our children who have made French Day such a success.  We have played French games, learnt French dances, eaten French food and improved our use of the language through a series of activities. Logan, in Year 3, said "I really enjoyed today, the best part was playing boules with my friends." We have been both amazed and impressed again at the quality of the outfits the children have created for today.  Judging the year group winners has been extremely hard as ever, but we managed to come to a decision in the end. Our winners were: In Year 3 - Sydney and Logan In Year 4 - Bailey and Bernie In Year 5 - Megan and Arturo In Year 6 - Alexa and Jacob Keep checking the blog for more pictures of the day.
