The end of term.

Image
We have come to the end of a very strange year.  A year where you have all become teachers and we have all had to learn new ways to teach.  Google Classroom has been a great success and has allowed all of our children to carry on learning through this difficult time.  If you have enjoyed using Google Classroom we will be continuing to use it next year to set and submit homework.  Also, all of the other lessons we have learnt over the past few months will only help us to grow as a school and offer even more opportunities to every child. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe summer, and we are looking forward to welcoming you all back in September.

Goodbye to Mrs Westlake

Image
Today we said goodbye to Mrs Westlake.  She is retiring after working at the school for 26 years.  Throughout that time she has been a vital member of the Squirrels Heath team and she will be missed by both staff and children alike.  Over the years she has helped countless children grow and achieve and I am sure that many people reading this post will have a special memory of her. We would like to wish her a happy retirement and we look forward to hearing from her soon.

It has been an interesting and unexpected year and we have not been able to say goodbye to each other in person.  So, we have created a film to say goodbye to each other. Have a wonderful summer and we all wish you all the success in the world as you move into secondary school. Good luck and remember to keep in touch.

Final gold awards of the year.

Image
This week is the last week of giving out our school closure gold awards.  But don't worry as you can still earn gold awards when you come back. Some of the teachers found it very hard to choose this week so some classes will have more than one person chosen for a gold award this week. Well done to everyone who has won an award and if you have not won an award yet I am sure that you will be able to earn one next year.  I know all the teachers have found it hard to choose a winner each week as everyone is completing some great work at home. 'Black Lives Matter' Writing competition - Year 6

Well done to all of those who entered the 'Black Lives Matter' Writing competition a few weeks ago. These are the entries we received from Years 5 and 6 students, who really thought about the subject and wrote some very thought provoking pieces. Here are some examples from Year 6. Halle 6Pine This story is about a young boy named Toby. The boy was 12 years old and lived with his younger 8 year old sister, Danielle and his 83 year old grandad who is a retired footballer. One day Toby was at school ready to try out for the school football team. It had been a dream of his since he was little, to become a professional player just like his grandad had been.  He and some other boys in his year were in the changing rooms getting ready for the session. The coach took the boys out t

The last day for our Year 6 bubbles.

Image
Today was the last day for our Year 6 bubbles (not including our key worker groups).  All of the staff will miss our Year 6 children, and we wish them all well as they get ready for their move to secondary school. Other News - Children and staff in school have been busy creating a large display on the front of the school.  If you are passing the school come and have a look and read some of the messages from our Year 6 students. But remember there will still be work uploaded on Google Classroom until the end of term.  Also all of the lessons on Google Classroom will remain over the summer if you would like to carry on with them.
