Local History Week

Image
This week, the children have been working hard to research different aspects of local history! Year 3 investigated the changes to Romford Market and Year 4 have been looking at how Hornchurch has changed - they even had a special visit from Mrs Wells to talk about her experiences! Year 5 also had a visit from Mrs Farrow who used to attend Squirrels herself - she helped them a lot with their research on the history of the school and they all found it very interesting. In Year 6 we have been looking at how Squirrels Heath was affected by World War 2 and we will continue with this after half term when we have a special visitor coming to speak to us about Havering and the Battle of Britain!  Take a sneak peak at the exhibition we have put together- this will be open to all parents to visit during the open evening next half term (date to be confirmed).
