Amazing Athletes from Squirrels Heath Junior School!

OUR YEAR 4 ATHLETICS TEAM This afternoon our year 4 athletics team attended an indoor Athletics event at Harold Lodge Sports Centre to compete against other primary schools from the local area. Every single child represented the school, many for the first time, faultlessly.  Their effort, sportsmanship, support of one another and general attitude and behaviour was a real credit to the school and Mrs Cross was very proud of them all. The children gave each other tremendous encouragement and the sense of being in a team was so evident throughout the afternoon. The team came joint 2nd overall, this a great result!  A big thank to Mrs Ridley for her help and support this afternoon!

In year 6 this week, we conducted a 'historical enquiry.'  We looked at a range of sources to find out what life was like for students who came to school during the Second World War.  Have a look at some of the sources we spent time evaluating, hopefully you will find them as interesting as we did!  If they prompt any family discussion, feel free to share your ideas, family stories and opinions on the Google Classroom.  We would love to hear from you!

This week in Year 5 Science we were learning about water resistance. We carried out a scientific Fair Test to see which shapes are the most streamline. In addition, we looked at the fish in our biodome and discussed how their shape helps them to move easily in water.
