Year 3 rocks!

Image
This term we are investigating rocks, from rocks formed deep below the earth from magma to rocks formed deep below the sea, with fossils contained within them.  The children have had a great time identifying types of rocks and looking at their properties.  The children learnt a lot of new scientific vocabulary including density, permeability and durability.  They also completed an investigation to improve their comparison skills.

We watched Emily Fox, a Cup Stacking champion from the USA, and started to learn the 3:3:3 formation and the 3:6:3 formation. The children’s hand/ eye coordination is the key to success! Livid, Lola and Diona deserve a special mention for their skills today,

PE in Year 4...personal 60 second challenges!

Image
In year 4, we are doing 60 second challenges for running, push ups, toe to sky taps, star jumps, arm circles, mountain climbers, sit ups, shoulder taps and high knees.  Each week we try to beat our old score, and work hard to improve our fitness...although the press ups and sit ups are really tricky! Hopefully by half term we will have mastered all of them... We are also starting our skipping challenge later this week! Every child in the school Is getting their own skipping rope to master the skill!
