Year 5 Self-portraits In Year 5, we have begun to explore different ways of representing the human face. Our first task has been to create a self-portrait in pencil.   Using a photograph of ourselves, we spent some time carefully observing and noting every line, crease and wrinkle we could! We then used another copy of our faces to help us recreate these observations and proportion them effectively.   Together, they have generated quite an astonishing outcome, don’t you think?

Creating models of the river system in Year 3.

Image
Over the past week we have been creating 3D models of the river system.  By creating these models the children have been able to better understand the features of a river from its source to mouth.  This has also allowed the children to better understand the vocabulary associated with rivers.  It was great fun for everyone and has even given us a great display in school.

Book Vending Machine!!

New Book Vending Machine Arrives! We were all extremely excited today when our new Reading Book Vending Machine arrived in school.  Money raised from our Readathon last year went towards our purchase of this exciting new machine. Children will have the opportunity to win a book from the machine if they read 3 or more times a week.  Children were very excited watching this arrive first thing this morning and many have stopped throughout the day to take a look at what is inside.  We hope that it will really inspire and encourage the children to keep reading!  All the artwork on the sides of the machine were drawn by Mrs Collins, our Y6 Teaching Assistant. I'm sure you'll all agree it looks wonderful! Now come on Squirrels - Keep Reading!!

Year 4 Investigating Saxon Projectiles Strategies in Willow class!

Image
This week in Science we explored how Saxon and Viking invaders kept themselves safe while invading Britain...we asked how close must you be to a target in order to guarantee a hit? How do you stay back as far as you can? We estimated and had 3 goes to reach our target while keeping as far a distance as we could, then we recorded our results and talked about all the factors that might affect our accuracy!  We would be fantastic invaders!

Y6 Science Egg Helmet Enquiry

Y6 Science Enquiry  Year 6 studied the human circulatory system in science this term . As part of the topic we learnt about the importance of exercise in keeping our bodies healthy. In our enquiry lesson this week we designed a sports helmet to protect an egg. The egg represented  our vital organs, bones muscles and brain .
