Squirrels Heath Girls Football team

On Thursday 6th February the Squirrels Heath Girls Football team attended a football tournament at Noak Hill Sport Centre. In the morning they completed some drills and activities lead by the Chelsea FC Foundation. Then they watched some of the other Havering Schools’ matches to get a feel for the level of competition and cheer on some known faces.

After lunch it was time for the Squirrels Heath girls to play their socks off! In all, they played 6 matches with the following results.

SHJS V Harrowlodge 0:2 Loss

SHJS V James Oglethorpe 2:0 Win (Goals: Isabelle)

SHJS V Towers 2:0 Win (Goals: Holly and Lyla)

SHJS V Hacton 0:0 Draw

SHJS V St Peters 0:0 Draw

SHJS V Elm Park 1:1 Draw (Goal: Holly)

The girls earned 13 points in total but unfortunately this wasn’t enough to get them through to the Quarter Finals.

During the day, the Chelsea FC Foundation were watching the girls closely and trying to scout new talent. They were impressed by 3 of our girls and invited Holly, Isabelle and Iris to attend their local training sessions.

On the day, we chose a child who ‘achieved their personal best’. We chose Lyla B as she played well in every match, came back fighting despite falling on her knee and even scored a goal! All of this and Lyla was our youngest player on the day, only year 5 and playing in a largely year 6 dominated tournament.

Once again, the super Squirrels Heath children have made us so proud!

Well done girls!

Mrs. King
