Year 3 learn about the artist Lubaina Himid

This week the children were learning about the work of artist Lubaina Himid as part of Black History Month. Lubaina is a British artist, born in 1954, who moved from Zanzibar when she was just four months old. She was part of the Black Arts Movement in the 1980s. This movement included different black British artists trying to create opportunities and encourage other black artists to show their work. Lots of Lubaina Himid’s artworks are about the strength of black people throughout history.  The children looked at different pieces of Himid's artwork and then recreated one of the pieces using different materials.
