Y6 Parliament Workshop

Today Year 6 joined a very special workshop online held by the Houses of Parliament. They found out how the Houses of Parliament and the Houses of Lords work, what an MP does and how the laws are made. They even had the chance to think about who would be worthy to join the House of Lords. Suggestions ranged from Marcus Rashford, Daniel Radcliffe, Ed Sheeran and even Mrs Chestnutt! Well, you never know!

It was a very informative session and the children were able to join in and answer questions. During the session our local MP, Andrew Rosindell, also joined in and told the children all about his role and how he works to help the local community.

The children came up with some very probing questions for him too...

'Have you ever met the Prime Minister?'

'How can we tackle the problem of littering in the local area?'

'When are you planning to lift all the Covid restrictions?'

'What do you think are the most important issues that the government are facing?'

'If elected Prime Minister what would be the first thing you might do?'

Maybe we have some budding MPs or even Lords of the future!!
