Making Mechanisms in Year 5

 This week in Year 5 we have been instigating mechanisms in Science. First, we looked around the school to see what levers and pulleys we could find. We found lots in the gym equipment in the playground.  After, we used our new knowledge of mechanisms and our previous learning about Egyptian shadufs in our Pharaohs topic to create a tool using Kinex, string and a glue lid. Here are some pictures of our hard work!

Netball: Havering CHAMPIONS!

 Well done to our FANTASTIC netball team for winning the Havering league today.  They have officially been crowned the best netball players in Havering! 30 teams entered the tournament at the beginning and it was down to the final 4 today in the semi finals. First we beat Gidea Park and then squirrels went on to beat James Oglethorpe 12-4 in the final - a very well deserved win. Compliments were given by all other coaches and the sports collective on what an amazing tournament we have had.  Well done again Squirrels and a huge well done to Mr Leslie for all his hard work and dedication as a coach.

Year 4 trip to the National Gallery

 We are having a great time at the National gallery today. We got here in good time and are enjoying looking at the great artwork on display. I think many of the children are also looking forward to having lunch and as always the train trip has been a highlight.  More photos to follow.
