Hola Mexico!!!
and how does a compass work?
To introduce our newest unit 'Hola Mexico' we have learnt about Mayan style weaving. We looked at a range of rationally made clothes and the stories behind different shapes, colours and patterns.
We then used paper to model the technique and crafted Mexican flags.
We also looked at the history of the compass in science this week.
Did you know this invention has been around for over 2000 years. But that it didn't make its way to Europe until the 1400's.
Well looked the how compasses work using the Earth's own magnetic field and we looked at how the compass changed human travel and the impact this had on human civilisation.
