Year 6 - Black History Month!
This month, Squirrels have been celebrating Black History Month - learning about key figures and events.
In Year 6 this week, we have focussed on 'Windrush'. The children have learnt a lot about the Windrush journey and the events that followed for the people of Windrush. In 6 Palm, we have even been reading 'The Windrush Child' by Benjamin Zephanniah.
In English lessons, children made an information leaflet all about Windush. In topic, children worked in groups to create posters about the event. In music this week, children have been learning about Jazz and focussed on different black music artists, including Nina Simone and Louis Armstrong amongst others.
