Our visit to Royal Liberty by Jack and Natasha, 5Fir

Today we went on a trip to Royal Liberty to learn about science and history.

When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely staff who took us to the science lab.

When we were inside the science lab the first thing we did was do four different experiments with Mr Higgins the science teacher who led us through the experiments. The first fun experiment was alighting Jelly Babies, this made an extreme explosion with flames and smoke! Then we got into groups of seven or eight and did four fun experiments while filling out a sheet. After we made our way next room to learn about witchcraft.

During this lesson, we learnt about witchcraft, what people were accused for and the trials they faced. First, we had to identify different images and learnt what the images were. One fact was that people would put hair, nails, hearts, finger nails and urine in a bottle and they would place these on shelves or under the door, this was said to keep witches away. Our main task was to find people who may have been a witch in a village. We got given cards that had the names of the villagers and what they were like, this would help identify who was and wasn't a witch.

In the end we had the greatest time and had lots of fun with experiments and witchcraft!
