How bad is coke on your teeth?

In Year 4, we have started an investigation looking at the affect different drinks have on our teeth.  We are using eggs as a substitute for our teeth as their shells will show a similar reaction to a tooth.  We will be leaving the eggs submerged in the different drinks for a period of one week, checking them each day for any changes and recording our results.

We have made our predictions and ensured we have a fair test.  Elif, in Palm class, said she thinks coffee is the worst for your teeth because of the caffeine in it and she has seen cups stained by having coffee placed into it.  While, John said that coke will be the worst because of the high sugar content.

We are also conducting an investigation using toothpaste, to see if the use of toothpaste has any effect on the harmful impact that some drinks have on our teeth.

Only time will tell and we can't wait to find out!
