Fruit Salad and Fruit Faces in Reception.

 We have been reading Handa's Surprise in our Drawing Club Literacy lessons. 

This week we have been making Fruit Salad. We used bananas, oranges, pineapple, grapes, melon and strawberries. We learnt how to hold a knife correctly to cut up the fruit safely. We ate the fruit salad and it was delicious! 

We have also learnt about an artist called Giuseppe Arcimboldo who was born in Italy nearly 500 years ago.  He painted portraits using fruit, vegetables, and flowers. We had a go at making portrait sculptures using real fruit and had lots of fun working together.  Afterwards we made funny collage faces using pictures of fruit that we cut out and stuck onto paper.
