Year 6 - Last term at Squirrels Heath Junior! Our Year 6 children have been all working incredibly hard this year. All this hard work put them in good stead to tackle their SAT's tests a few weeks ago. All the children did their very best and we would like to congratulate them once again on their commitment and effort they have put in - you should all be every proud of yourselves! The hard work doesn't stop there though! They are now focused on producing some more fabulous pieces of writing that will all go towards their final results which they will receive in July! PGL Week Children are now looking forward to their Year 6 residential trip to PGL Liddington in Wiltshire where they will take part in activities ranging from canoeing and climbing, to raft building and various team challenges! The summer term brings Athletics Season and in Havering that brings the annual Quad Kids competition which sees 100s of children across the borough compete in running, jumping and throwing events. The event is held at Hornchurch Stadium which can seat 300 spectators and even more standing. No pressure at all for our young competitors then! There are 2 separate Quad Kids events; one for years 3 and 4 and one for years 5 and 6. We take 4 boys and 4 girls from each year group. The year 3 and 4 children will rotate around 4 events: Standing long jump, Vortex mega howler throw, 400m run and 50m sprint. The long distance run is the event that really gets the crowd going as the children battle with tired legs and all their energy to make it passed the finish line! He soon discovered that this was not the gift he had thought it would be and accidentally turned his daughter to solid gold!
