Oliver's story opening

Well done to Oliver for his great story opening. If you want to submit yours there is still time.  Why not send it in! The abandoned house  Oliver 4Maple  There was a house in the middle of the forest, it was very old and broken. No one knew why it was abandoned, and next to it was an old rusty car. Some people thought it was left by the owners, some others thought there was a fire, some people even thought it was a haunted house! But no one knew why it was there and what happened to this abandoned house and car.  When you looked at it it was all rusty and broken, the windows were cracked, there were holes in the walls and there was no door to get in, it wasn't there...Inside the beds in the rooms were broken and dirty, the sofa had a big hole in it and the lights wouldn't work at all. The kitchen was filled with rotten and gone-off food, and it looked like the kitchen was all burnt. The toilet was like you were in the sewer because of how dirty, old and b...

Luka's Story

Below is Luka's story. Well done and keep up the good work. The Derelict House The forest was on fire.  Flames licked at the darkness, stripping bark from the trees and turning the leaves to ash.  Inside the great, glimmering inferno was a house. In the house lived the proud Howler family.  They didn’t know, at the time. The firefighters just arrived at the scene minutes ago. Now it stands there with nothing around.  Any daring people who go in are said to never come out…

Mrs B’s easy way to subtract from numbers with lots of zeros!

Hi all, Here is a wonderful way of avoiding exchanging when taking away, This method works for any numbers with lots of zeros, such as for money (when you calculate change from £5 or £10 or £20 and so on) and also for measures. Make up your own problems to check it, and see for yourself how much easier it makes subtraction!

Mrs B’s partitioning to multiply mentally more easily

Hi everyone, Remember you can break numbers apart (partition) to make them easier to multiply, then add your totals back together. This can be a lot easier than short and long multiplication...once you know your times tables! Have a go with some of your own!

Isabelle's Story

Lo.To write a story opening .  By Isabelle B 4 maple  .  In a dark and dingy cabin there were spiderwebs around the place. The windows and the curtains were wrecked to pieces. The door was open. It was a mystery of who lived there and if anyone actually did. The car was as wrecked as the house. All you can smell is rotten wood rotting away as soon as you walk in the old cabin.       Well done Isabelle Keep up the good work. Mr. Frith
